Map enhancements. - show current position #82

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. load application
2. select a geocache relatively close to where you are.
3. it lists the caches but no longer shows the blue dot of where you are.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I see a map with no blue dot. I would like to know my current position.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
0.9.9 HTC Dream G1 - Rogers

Please provide any additional information below.

As an additional request it would be really really helpful to have a centre
on current position. So the expected blue dot will show in the middle and
all of the caches will show around, instead of centering on the chosen
cache. Using our position as the reference point is easier to interpret.

Some basic questions:
Did the map coordinates include the position where the blue dot should be
visible?
Did you have a GPS or network position established?
Does the problem always occur or just that one time?

The feature to center the map on the users current location already has high
prio. I
have entered it as issue #83.

Question: > Did the map coordinates include the position where the blue dot
should be
visible?

Answer: I don't know. I would think that it would show or it would be able to
get
that from my coordinates. In the previous version 0.7.xx it did. I would have
a
single point of where the cache was, and a blue dot representing where I am
currently
standing. Now I see all the caches, but not my current position.
Question: > Did you have a GPS or network position established?

Answer: I am only using GPS.

Question: > Does the problem always occur or just that one time?

Answer: The blue dot never appears for me on version 0.9.9.

I am going to recheck something tomorrow.

When I was at work, I am pretty sure that it found the new gps coordinates, but
I am
not completely sure. Work is 7 km away from home and would have been really
far off
the map. When I got home I noticed the blue dot, which is counter to what I
posted.
Tomorrow I am going to see if this was stuck on my home coordinates. I don't want
you looking for something that may not have been there.

Me and Stephen will look out for the missing blue dot. So far it has worked
well for
us. We appreciate if you can provide more details or alternatively, conclude
that
it's not a bug.
Until then I'll leave the issue in "new" status.

Good Day Gentlemen,

I think that I figured it out, and it's really a non action for you guys.

I came back to work this morning, and loaded geobeagle, the blue dot didn't
appear.
I am sure that it is related to the strength of the GPS signal. I am in an
office
building and I have a side office. It loaded up all of the points around me,
but
didn't display for several minutes. I am guessing that it took a little while
to get
a better reading to appear. (I didn't get a good enough position yesterday)

Thanks for checking this out.
