Is it possible on load, to show the markers of the in the KML marked as
visible folders?

not sure what you are asking for do you want all the folders to start in open 
state
so you can see the markers inside them?

allfoldersopen:true is the option to tell the folders to all open after loading.

For the opposite of the first question, Is there a way to force all the folders 
to collapse after parcing? "allfoldersopen=false" does not seem to do the trick.

It will default closed (if nothing is set in the kml) but you are right it 
probably should allow you to force them closed.
