New Installation Step 3 #68

= What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. "Could not Connect to 'localhost' using username 'root'"

= What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I took everything in default, but I can't seem to pass step three of the 
install.  Created new account, 
but the result is the same.

= What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
glossword-wamp-228-5124-530dev

= Please provide any additional information below.

Use root as username and root as password.

I did, but the problem persist the same.  Your help me appreciated.

I have the same problem. For me, on port:80, I have IIS, and on port:81 apache 
server, so when I put localhost, the server directed to IIS. Any help will be 
appricated.

This is database server. It is not related to a web-server. MySQL can work with 
both
IIS or Apache or even without them. To check is your instance of MySQL is 
running,
check Services:

Start -> Run -> type services.msc, hit Enter

Search for MySQL51, it should be marked as Working.
