Styles (e.g. font size) ignored on IE6 #72

= What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. all styles (admin, theme) do not work correctly on IE6

= What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
e.g. font size is completely ignored

= What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.8.10

= Please provide any additional information below.
I found out that it's related to the first line in the page header (XML 
definition); when I remove it (page starts with doctype) IE 6 can 
correctly display everything. Is it safe to do so, or is the XML header 
needed on a specific page?

IE6 has been released on August 27, 2001. 
The styles will not work in Netscape 4.x also.

Get a newer browser.

You may edit HTML-templates as you wish. Yes it is safe.

I've tested new design in IE6 before and it looks very well.
