private messages and mentions are notified many times

Since i updated today, it seems that hotot notifies the user about old messages 
everytime it gathers new updates. This is quite similar to the "old tweets are 
notified at every startup" bug, the difference being that instead of being 
notified at startup, they're notified at every update.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. start hotot
2. wait a moment
3. notifications for old PM's and mentions are displayed

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Messages should be notified only the first time they appear.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system and
what Desktop Environment?
Version: Latest mercurial revision
OS: ArchLinux
DE: Openbox

I have fixed the bug you described after rev 28a754831617, and i am using the 
latest one but nothing happen. Could you provide more information about it?
