Unhelpful Error Message during sign up/registration

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Sign up as a new user

What is the expected output? Meaning Error Message(s) as to what was done wrong 
and direction for what to do next.

What do you see instead? Just an Error Message.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? Google 
Chrome.
