mediaplayer2 is not appearing in main menu

hello, i tried last version MP2 2.050 and older version 2.030 i find in black 
hole forum. i use BH 2.0.9 in vu+ solo2.
i tried both versions (second is more stable, but in both versions plugin is 
not appearing in main menu instead of default media player). i did reboot and 
everything. it appears in blue pannel but not in main menu. 
this is important because i use dreamdroid and stream net videos from tablet to 
vu+ solo2. but stream is automatically open on default media player which is 
horrible and doesn't support any subs from plugins or hdd (because it's stream, 
not movie file on hdd).
i thought that if media player 2 appear in main menu, dreamdroid would open 
stream directly with this plugin.
can you please help?

hi,

1. I'm curious, what do you mean that 0.50 is more stable than 0.30? Can 
specify how does appear instability of 0.50 version (ie. GS, freezing,..)?

2. Dreamdroid uses (open)webif interface to communicate with enigma2 stb, It 
communicates only with MediaPlayer plugin, so even if MediaPlayer2 would be in 
main menu, it wouldn't work. 
Solution to your problem is to replace MediaPlayer with MediaPlayer2. It means 
that you remove MediaPlayer plugin and then renames MediaPlayer2 directory to 
MediaPlayer.

3. I'm also interested in streaming net videos from android device to e2 stb, 
can you elaborate, how do you use it? I mean, how do you get links for net 
videos, since when I found video with web browser there is no posibility to 
select what player to use("Watch on your Dreambox").

1. in 0.50 after pressing "pause" key, movie sometimes freezes and i have to 
play it from beginning. also after pressing pause, whole skin appear like in 
default media player. in 0.30 version pause key work fine and there's no 
appearance of whole skin. it's like movie player, when playing movies with 
video button.
it's also strange that 0.30 version that i found on black hole forum (i use 
black hole in vu+ solo2) is only 50kb, while 0.50 from this site is cca 700kb.i 
attached this small ipk. it has less options than 0.50. 
strange is that when i uninstall 0.30 i can't install any other version 
anymore..i install ipk but after reboot plugin is not there.

2) i found another solution. i play stream from tablet and it appears in 
default media player. it stays in play list. i run MP2 and start stream from 
playlist. it works fine! but key problem, txt button doesn't give subtitles 
menu! is it because it's stream and not avi,mp4,mkv etc.?

3) very simple. i'm suscribed in one premium movie site. it gives protected 
links (attached to pass and ip address). links is like this:

this kind of links can be saved for expample with downloadhelper for firefox.
anyway, in dolphin browser on android tablet i copy this link address to 
browser bar and i got options to play it in mxplayer,default video player and 
watch it on dreambox with dreamdroid. i click on last and immediatly stream 
opens in media player on vu+.

i made it. problem was that 0.50 has somehow stayed in box or was remembered. 
when i was trying to install lower version it just didn't work. maybe plugin is 
made in way that last version is only possible to install. this small 0.30 
version is obviously made different.
now in 0.50 i play file from dreamdroid to default MP. than file from playlist 
is played in MP2 and stream start, and as difference in 0.30 version txt button 
for subtitles works even for streams! everything as i wanted!
few bugs in 0.50 in respect to 0.30:

-when pressing stop button, movie automatically stops, there's no question if i 
want stop or not. after this the same movie can't be played again. i have to 
play another movie and than get back to one before that i want to watch.
-pressing yellow button, movie stops
-pressing exit when skin with movie name is on, movie stops immediatly without 
question if i want stop or not
-change between filelist and playist only with + - buttons, in 0.30 it's 
possible with left right button
-everytime when leaving plugin it asks if i want it or not, in 0.30 version it 
can be set in settings to not ask
-pressing pause MP skin appears accros all screen, in 0.30 only litle "pause" 
sign appear. like in movie player with video button

can movie player be the same as in video button, like in 0.30 version? in 0.50 
version is the same as default media player.

but big + is a lot of more subtitle settings available than in 0.30, i didn't 
try all yet. and off course, possibility to give subs to streams.

1. freezing - for me never occurred but it could probably be keymap issue, i 
will look into it.  

skin appearence - well it supposed to be that way. In 0.30 version is 
MoviePlayer separated from filelist/playlist so there is no posibility to show 
file/playlist while play/pause movie, you cannot dynamically change what is 
playing, easily skip to next track and so on. It's matter of preferrence, I 
like it this way like in 0.35ab+ version.

size - it's mainly because of included Ubuntu fonts, you can safely delete them 
if you don't need to be italics/bold subtitles shown properly, then there are 
some flag images for newly added feature - subtitles search. If you delete 
ubuntu fonts it will be much smaller..

0.30 uninstall - package has not right name(missing extensions), therefore it's 
not shown when you want to remove it from GUI. However you can remove it via 
telnet/ssh: opkg remove enigma2-plugin-mediaplayer2, this command is also on 
project main-page.
When you uninstall it you can safely install other versions..

2. Yes it's also possible this way, default playlist is shared between MP and 
MP2. It doens't matter if what you're playing is stream or not. When stream 
starts playing you can press TEXT button and subtitles menu will appear, but 
you've to wait until video start's playing.

Installation via SSH/TELNET:
opkg remove enigma2-plugin-mediaplayer2
opkg remove enigma2-plugin-mediaplayer2ab
opkg remove enigma2-plugin-extensions-mediaplayer2

now you can install any version

stop button - It's bug, will be fixed, for now you can use playpause button, to 
pause movie, asking questions - well it's supposed to be dynamic, I don't think 
it's neccessary, but I know that it can bother you, if you're not accustomed to 
it.

yellow button - keymap issue, you can change it manually in keymap.xml

exit button - must be keymap issue not happening to me at all, when pressed 
exit video is still playing while asking if I want to exit media player. will 
look into that

change filelist/playlist - in 0.37+ when you're in playlist you can quickly 
navigate with right/left by skipping pages in playlist/filelist, you can change 
this behaviour in keymap.xml

ask exit - will add this option back

pause mp skin - it's supposed to be that way..

movieplayer same as 0.30 version - it's possible to do it, I did it one time in 
0.35(ab), when both versions exist. But since then there was more updates to MP 
from openpli and old system (0.30) was abandoned and I didn't wanted to 
maintain two versions.

Yes,it's mostly question of personal preference.
Only bug with stop button and not be able to play same movie again is quite 
annoying.

another "bug" which is mostly because i'm used to movie player from video 
button which acts differently.

look attachment. when this little skin is on, in movie player you can "remove" 
it both with "ok" button and "exit" button. in MP2 you can remove it with "ok" 
button but with "exit" button you end movie directly. when little skin is off 
after pressing "exit" button there's question do you want end or not. can you 
add this question also when skin with movie info is on? as i said, it's metter 
of routine, years of using movie player..

another thing, when new version is out, do i need to uninstall previous version 
or just directly install new one?

some issues fixed in 0.54 - stop button is working, fixed keymap issues, added 
last suggestion(quick exit).
There should be no need to uninstall previous version, however I recommend to 
do it, in case you've older version installed <0.37

hi mate, i have one more question.
i have problems with streaming m3u file or dreamdroid file in mp2 that is 
longer than 120 minutes. 99% of movies longer than 120 minutes don't stream. in 
tsmedia it works fine, but i don't like tsmedia for other reason, too big, too 
unstable.
can you pls help?

It's loading for cca 10 seconds over and over again. Yes,black screen. Shorter 
movies are loading for few seconds and than start. Longer movies than 120 min 
are loading some time than stop loading but no pic,than again start loading and 
no picture, and so on.
I think that in mp2 this loading time should be longer. Probably after few 
seconds of loading if movie doesn't start,mp2 closes it. In tsmedia loading is 
also longer,10 sec, even movie player ask if i want to close movie. I press no 
and after few sec stream starts,but not from start,from second min of 
movie.with button 7 i just rewind it to start and everything is fine.
It's difficult to explain,i hope you understand what i'm saying :)
I think problem is that mp2 simply closes stream if it doesn't start in some 
time and this time should be longer if possible.

Just few more things,as i'm already writting :)
-When rewind or fast forward with numbers 3 6 7 9, title  often dissappears so 
i need to put it again
- is it possible to put gray background to title? it's more visionable in that 
way
-is it possible to add access to main menu when film is on,with menu button?so 
that in menu options to be able to go to main menu and see for example some 
plugins like live football,rss reader etc when part of the movie is boring :)

Hi, sorry for late answer,

I'm not sure how it's done in TSMedia, but as far as I know http timeout is 
hardcoded to 10/20 seconds, and it's not possible to change it without 
recompiling e2. I will look into it..

gray background to title - > it's skin issue I'm not providing skin with mp2, 
mp2 uses mp skin provided by skin you use(elgato, mymetrix, openpli,..) in 
enigma2.

access to main menu - it's possible, but I've to think about side effects it 
could bring

I figured out that longer videos start ok from second attempt. Videos shorter 
than cca 120min or smaller than cca 1gb start immediately but for longer or 
bigger videos from first attempt nothing than immediately from second attempt 
they are fine.
