plugin keeps redownloading same messages, spiking CPU to 100%, often crashing pidgin #119

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. start pidgin
2. enable twitter in 'accounts'
3. sign in to twitter account

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
expected output is download the last 15 twitter messages, and then ONLY new
messages from then. what i see instead is pidgin will then every minute or
so, redownload the last 15 messages, sometimes several times in succession,
spiking my CPU to 100%.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
twitgin 0.2.1, pidgin 2.5.6, windows xp sp3

Please provide any additional information below.
i am also using another pidgin plugin called pidginsnarl (r2.1), i don't
think there is a conflict, but it has been added recently and may contribute.

twitgin is my favourite pidgin plugin and would hate to see it unusable.
any help would be greatly appreciated!

The same (if not similar) issue has just started to occur for me as well. It's
gotten bad enough that I had to disable my Twitter with Pidgin. Once it's
logged in,
it starts pulling in the last 10 messages (as configured), then it starts
pulling the
older messages from my timeline as well & so on & so on.

It almost crashed my computer it was so annoying that I had to disable my
Twitter
feed just to recover. Here's the details you requested...

1) What steps will reproduce the problem
--------------------------------------------
1) Start Pidgin
2) Enable Twitter in "accounts" (if not enabled already)
3) Wait for the connection & the Twitter feeds to come in.

2) What is the expected output? What Do you see Instead?
------------------------------------------------------------
It brings in the last 10 tweets from my timeline... but it starts pulling in
older
tweets (beyond the original 10) in rapid succession with only a audio-note that
it's
doing something as well as bring in the new posts.

When I close the IM window, it just pops right back up like it was never closed
&
keeps going!

3) What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Plugin: Twitgin 0.2.1 -- Portable Edition
(pidgin_portable_2.5.x-microblog_.0.2.1-1.exe)
Pidgin Version: 2.5.5 Portable (from PortableApps.com)
OS: Depends on system used (as it's the portable version), known systems it's
been
used on are...
* Windows Vista: Home Premium SP1
* Windows XP Home SP3
* Windows XP Pro SP3 (w/ & w/o Administrative Restrictions)

4) Please provide any additional information Below:
------------------------------------------------------
This could be related to the noted "Tweetpocolypse" (or Twitter Apocalypse) as
it
could be the "Tweet ID" that's causing this error.

This is the only Twitter plugin that works portably (that I know of) & I'd love
to
use it again... once the problem is fixed.

I'm experiencing the same issue reported by the others above, with Twitgin
0.2.1 &
Pidgin 2.5.5, but on Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope.

This just started up for me within the past 24 hours. It seems like it
re-downloads
DAYS worth of tweets, not just the last 15 over and over.

No error messages output in terminal.

This started for me yesterday also (that's what strikes me as odd). Seems to
reload
everything and freezes an instant, then comes back online, waits a while and
starts
all over again.

However I use another software versions (that why I'm Me-tooing this):

Windows XP SP3
Pidging V: 2.58
And Twitgin 0.22
No other plugin enabled.
