I'm having the exact same problem.
Using Ubuntu 12.04.1 with Pidgin 2.10.3 (libpurple 2.10.3).
Running piding from the command line gives me no clue of what could be causing
this, other than a bug in the library that makes it incompatible with this
version of pidgin or libpurple.
All I need to do to reproduce this is try to add a new TwitterIM account. Fill
in all details and lick Save. Crash!
I hope they get this sorted out soon.
