I had the same problem in my iBook G4. Then I discovered the plugin it's only
for
Intel chips. :(

I can report that I have the same result on an Intel MacBook Pro.

I'm running Adium 1.3.4b2. I justdownloaded & installed
TwitterIM.AdiumLibpurplePlugin-0.2.1a.zip, and restarted Adium.

I still cannot see any option to add a twitter account.

Same for me on an Intel iMac running Leopard and Adium 1.3.4b3 The plugin is
installed and visible in the Xtras Manager but there's no option to add a
Twitter/Identica/Laconica account like there is when I installed it on Ubuntu.

Apologies for the slow response. First, its important that everyone run the
latest
version of MacOS (10.5.6) as there seems to be an update to something (I suspect
glib). In addition, I now recommend upgrading to Adium 1.3.4 - I have just
tested a
new bundle which is attached, but will be pushed to all common download sites
soon.
Seems that the Adium folks updated libpurple in that version, which basically
broke
all the Twitter functionality.

Finally, this plugin doesn't seem to compile with ppc (at least on my machine)
so if
someone wants to help with that I would appreciate it.
