Floating toolbars causes messages to open below list #301

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Since the update to 1.7.34 a selected message does not appear in the main Gmail
pane, it appears at the bottom of the message list

Does the problem persist when loading Gmail with this link:
https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/?labs=0 if not, list your enabled labs
experiments:

MinGmail version 1.7.34
Chrome version 12.0.742.91
Chrome update channel beta
Operating System Mac OS 10.6.7
Language Englist
Google apps user? Yes
Other Gmail extensions ActiveInbox

Screenshot shows that selected message appears below message list instead of
showing up in the main Gmail pane.

I cannot replicate this issue. Does it persist if you disable Active Inbox and
restart your browser?

Yes. Same thing with ActiveInbox disabled after browser restart.

The most likely feature to be causing this is Floating Toolbar feature. Does
disabling that make a difference

That's the culprit. Disabling floating toolbar eliminates the problem. In
fact, the problem only appears when selecting a message after scrolling down
the list so the floating toolbar appears. Too bad, floating toolbar is among
my favorite features.

Same here ... it's doing the same thing on mine and im torn between having this
weird message below bug or turning off my favourite feature, the floating
toolbar ...

Are you getting any JavaScript errors when it occurs?

[wrench] > Tools > JavaScript Console > Errors

Thanks for getting back to me, not sure if it's relevant but it says two errors:

Error in event handler for 'undefined': TypeError: Cannot read property
'className' of undefined
data:Failed to load resource

Not sure what that means ...

Also it says that there are 11 warnings, not sure if that's relevant:

Ah! Thanks shogun, you errors were accidentally helpful. They were just some
debugging code I left in the last update by accident but when I went back to
fix it I realized I had overlooked a case.

Point is I fixed it in 1.7.35, please force update and confirm:

Updated to 1.7.35. Messages no longer appear below the message list. However
floating toolbar is no longer working.

Right you are. Floating toolbars is still a bit flaky. I'll take another look
at it this weekend and see if I can get it to be a bit more reliable.
