Practically, we need a bit more, as we have to show both existing fanarts PLUS
available fanarts (the latter as preview). Existing fanarts could also be done
by mosaic or taken from movie itself - so not only coming from TMDB.
Procedere would be to add a "fanart manager screen" similar to covermanager,
that both shows existing and available (=downloadable) fanarts - plus provides
the options to either download or create fanarts.

Yes that sounds even better.
Thanks

I starred this issue since I already planned to add it too - and agree with
Guzzi's comments. The way TV Series does it is very good, showing remote vs
local. BUT TVS does not have all the options that MF Cover Manager does- such
as to delete images. On the other hand fanart preview or manager may not need
ALL the options that Cover Manager does such as different sources/scripts,
select default, current default and maybe not delete options (see below)
So I think it is important to detail exactly what features we expect and how we
expect them to work? So here is my wish list :)
1. Fanart Manager displays preview of all available fanart images from TMDB
(afaik the only source MF uses for fanart) AND created fanarts, with
backdrop/preview full image of selected fanart in facade/layout.
2. Fanart manager window displays: Movie Title, loading status (since it may
take a while for preview if there are many fanart images) xx/xx total LOCAL
(existing) images/total of ALL images available, plus image resolution, current
filter, maybe image size and filename for local fanart images?
3. Existing fanarts are indicated (e.g. local/remote as in TVS plus perhaps
'created' or something to indicate those created by Fanart Manager.)
4. Selecting a 'remote' fanart image in facade downloads that image, perhaps
menu option downloads: All/filtered (based on current filter selected?).
Download status displays during download.
5. The most important filters imo are 1280x720, 1980x1080, both (i.e. only true
16x9), All. The main thing imo is to avoid non-widescreen fanart images which
distort in MF (and there are some on TMDB)
6. I am not sure about Delete options, because then Fanart Manager will
continually try to download/add them again. So perhaps an 'Disable' option as
in TVS if the fanart image is already available locally but you don't like that
image? However, delete might make sense for 'created' fanart images. Any
thoughts?
7. It MIGHT be good to display the Fanart download limit (as defined in Setup)
and have the option to change it via GUI? But I am not sure how easy that is,
or if it is relevant since AFAIK it only applies to AMCU imports (and global
updates>import/Update all movies (i.e. scan) in GUI. In the Fanart manager you
can select the images you wish to download, and either delete/disable the ones
you don't want, so the 'limit' may not be relevant here (I only bring it up so
we have a record of the decision ;) )
8. I suspect 'Download fanart (selected film)' option may no longer be needed
once MF provides a Fanart Manager - or that option simply opens Fanart Manager.
That's all I could think of so far :D

I think we would want to be able to delete fanart in the new feature it would
be nice to be able to disable it on a per configuration basis so if your like
me and have both hd tv and 4x3 you could have different fanart enabled for each
one, that would eliminate having to have a fanart folder and configuration for
each machine.
How i would probably use this is to go to the manager look at what i have and
what is available (this is where having the resolution and preview would be
nice) having thumbs that show the resolution like the cover manager and when
you highlight the thumb the highlighted fanart would become the backdrop in the
manager.
Then delete the fanart that i have and don't want then select the fansrt that i
want from TMDB. The number of fan art i already have set in AMCU and Guzzi has
already said he was going to make that apply to the on board updater. (what i
would really like to see here is a way to set a fanart limit for each movie as
i dont like fanart with text on it and i delete those now but some of my more
obscure movies only have a few fanarts and i can see that they will come back
as things are now).
Then upload the fanart i have selected from TMDB.

Ok you are right Ted - it's probably much better to delete unwanted fanart and
individually add the ones you want IF fanart limits apply and will not
re-download fanart if you update via AMCU or GUI.
I doubt there is any way to filter out fanart with text (I wish!) so the Fanart
Manager option to select the images you want is probably the best solution.
I am not sure what you mean by different fanart for HD vs 4x3? Certainly it
would be good to filter fanart by resolution (I hate getting non
widescreen/distorted fanart from TMDB) but why do you need different fanart for
each machine?

Fanart of very high resolution will not desplay on my CTR screen so i will
download some lower resolution fanart so i get a few fanarts for the 4x3 TV.
