Taskbar Icon Issue #16

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Pin Taskbar Icon for Notepad2
2. Replace Notepad with Notepad2
3. Launch Notepad

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Using Kai Liu's Notepad2, it is able to use my Pinned Taskbar icon. With your
version, it creates a new icon on the Taskbar.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Notepad2-mod.4.1.24_r419_x86-64.zip, Notepad2-mod.4.1.24_r419_x86-32.zip. I am
running Windows 7 x64 SP1.

Please provide any additional information below.
I love your version, and the fact that you're constantly updating. However, i
still use Kai Liu's version because it's able to use my Pinned Taskbar Icon.
Please note: i have to run Kai Liu's Notepad2 in "Vista Compatibility Mode" to
force it to use my Pinned Taskbar Icon, but it works. This trick does not work
with yours. Please fix this if it's possible, or if you have time. The website
im part of currently has a discussion about this, and we all would love to see
your version support Taskbar Icon. Thank You!

F.Y.I

Notepad2 4.2.25-rc7, and Notepad2 4.1.24 by FLO is able to use the Pinned
Taskbar icon as well, without running in "Vista Compatibility" Mode.

Well, I don't see how you replace Windows Notepad with Notepad2. I have no
problem using the installer I provide and that's the only supported way for me.
So unless you have a patch ready, this issue is non existent for me and there's
nothing I can do.

PS. I did left some code out when merging Kai Liu's code so maybe that's the
cause. Nevertheless, I don't have the time or the will to go back and see if
that's the cause for your problem, so you'll have to do some more work if you
are interested in this problem being fixed.

how to fix this very issue:

- Start Notepad2
- Then right-click the Taskbar Icon > select Pin to Taskbar.
