Adding Phone and Mobile Phone to a new contact causes the Mobile Phone to be lost #147

This is a problem with the workflow rules.

When you create a contact from an Account, the phone gets inherited into the 
phone field. But if the 
user adds another phone number in one of the other phone fields, there can be a 
conflict.

Check the different scenarios for a workaround or possible change to the 
workflow.

Standard Salesforce functionality puts the Phone from the Account into the 
Phone field on the Contact. NPSP 
workflow rules take a phone from another field, like Mobile, and if you select 
Mobile as the preferred phone field, 
that number gets written to the Phone field, overwriting the Account Phone.

If we wanted to keep the Account Phone, where should we put it? Work Phone?
