Did you reboot the device after the first run of android? I had an extremely
slow connection after the first boot, however, i shut off the phone (Hold Lock
Key and press Power/Hangup-Button, then choose "Shut Off") and turned it on
again, and after that, Market works flawlessly. However, if it doesn´t get
better after reboot:

What is the protection type of your WLAN? (WPA; WEP; Open?) Maybe try playing
around with it.

Seems to be caused by some slow market servers. I don't think the devs can do
much about that.

can also confirm this. I have a connection, but it is very slow.
I get many of this messages trough Dalvik Debug Monitor :
ERROR/wpa_supplicant(1939): wpa_driver_priv_driver_cmd failed

I use WPA2.AES, (beta1 + 2d/3d drivers + latest zImage)

after i changed my android from sd card to my storage the market and wifi works
like a charm...

Strange why it makes a difference running android on my storage instead of SD
card. (see Post #710 on modaco for howto)

SDoola...@gmail.com, How do you change the android from sd card to my storage?
I have the same problem with wifi and market. Do you lost something of
mystorage in windowsMO?

i used the free partition tool http://www.partition-tool.com/
Nothing is lost on my storage (if you have enough free space of course ;))

I connected my phone with usb (as mass storage on "my storage" (on winmo:
settings->general settings->usb connection) ).

The micro sd card with the ext2 partition in your sdcard reader on your
computer or something like that.

now if you start partition master you see your my storage from your phone and
the sd card.

shrink the partition on the phone so that you have enough free space (be sure
it is at the end)

now you can copy the partition from the sdcard to your phone.

At last you must change your parameter (for haret) in default.txt so it can
foind your partition : root=/dev/mmcblk0p6

Hi,
I tried many times to resize the 2GB internal memory (my storage) with
different firmwares and was unable to do. Give error when trying to change the
partition or delete (to then recreate smaller)

Did Someone that? Can we speed up Omnia2Droid in this way ?
Can we do from haret ? (like beta .tar to MyStorage instead of SD ?)

 --== Incredible Speed gained ==--
(moving the EXT3 to MyStorage)

My experience was awakening!. I spend almost all day trying to resize partition
in Ubuntu, with no success-
Installed partition-tool in VirtualBox and work fine (with minor issues, cant
change order of partitions, 512MB program partition is blocked).

My omnia2 (myStorage=2Gb)
1) Resize the first partition to 400MB
2) Copy the EXT3 SD Android Partition to MyStorage (between the first and the
last partition "512MB program")
Cheers!

Thanks for reporting. Maybe the sd chip shares the same bandwidth than the wifi
and 3g/data chips, that would explain the slowdowns when using android on sd
card (to be verified).

So, installing android to "My Storage" seems to be a great workaround for now.
Will keep you informed.

Apology for this. I just posted this because upon transferring the installation
from my sd card to My Storage as advise to make wifi and 3g more faster.
However, It didn't work for me. And then I again try to reinstall android again
using this steps posted on
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=918778 but I could no longer
install Android.

Anyway, I figure out a way to install Android on My Storage ext3 using ubuntu
os. I manually copied and extracted ext2.tar.gz to my ext3 My Storage partition
and edit the default.txt.

SDoola...@gmail.com, can you HELP ME PLEASE...

I followed your instructions above and things went well until I restarted the
partition-tool – I could no longer see the WinMo 512MB partition on My
Storage drive, only the FAT32 and EXT2 partitions. I do understand that it is
a protected hidden partition but I DID see it before the resize etc.

I was worried the tool messed things up but I could still start WinMo normally
etc. (a couple of small issues but mostly ok).

I thought to go back to the previous state, I could flash my WinMo with a new
ROM and that should fix it... but it did not, WInMo still starts (with new ROM)
but I can not see the partition :(

The serious issue is that it messed up my partition table and I can no longer
install Android normally without changing a lot of settings AND Android Market
crashes when I attempt to download an app, so I can not download anything at
all.

I know for sure that the WinMo 512MB partition is there but I could not even
see it in ubuntu with partition or disc manager tool.

Can I rebuild the MBR or something!!!!!

PLEASE PLEASE HELP...
Greatly appreciate it...

See the image...

Hi Anan...,
I was worried regarding this same issue.

Try to delete all partitions in "mystorage"
From WinMo Samsung try format myStorage.
Try to recreate partition with partition-tool. Avoid gparted. (it only worked
for me on a vBox WinXp & partition-tool)

Hope you solve this issue.

Hey glococo

thanks for your suggestions... i tried all the above before and again last
night however nothing seems to want to “show” it back except possibly for
flashing a complete ROM i.e. including all ROM parts (4 i guess in total) using
the OCTANS tool.

Q: can you please provide me with a link or a WinMo ROM name which is complete
i.e. has all ROM parts?! most ROMs on xda contain only one part without the
Eboot etc part.

I'm running Android off the internal My Storage and its awesome :))) SUPER fast
just the way it should be... and a lot of the other bugs and crashes
disappeared... and the web browsing and email checking is lightning speed
comparison to before... so that is great...

To be clear i had to change default.txt file to point to my internal ext2
partition (root=/dev/mmcblk0p2) and also, after some hacking, i found out i had
to change the init.rc file as well (mount vfat /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 /storage)

HOWEVER: the Market does not work... i can NOT download apps... i can search
and display things super fast in the Market however when i tap to download it
remains on “Starting download...” and it just keeps spinning forever. I
noticed an error at android startup for the init.rc execution regarding
/system/bin/dhcpcd command error... so i looked into it and surely there's line
that says: “/system/bin/dhcpcd -k eth0”... i thought maybe we have to
change it to “exec /system/bin/dhcpcd -k eth0”... i looked further into the
problem and found out that the problem in the Market is due to this issue the
dhcpcd is not working properly and needs a su permission to execute from
init.rc file.

Have a look at this link please:
http://groups.google.com/group/android-porting/browse_thread/thread/24a35ab9c454
4d18/67263ce38febf1fe?lnk=raot

Q: does your Market download fine and is it fast?!! (strange because Market did
work fast for me before the latest download on Jan 31).

many thanks

anan.maz...@gmail.com : I've also had this issue. After some searching on the
internet, it seems that it's a common issue with fresh installed roms (on
several phones). If I remember well, it happens when signing in with your
google account for the first time within the Market app (I don't know the exact
cause, but it certainly isn't related to dhcpd as it works properly for
everyone else). Reinstall Android, sign in using Google Talk, and then use the
Market. It worked for me.

anan.maz...@gmail.com : wat is the problem? i see you have 2 partitions. Your
windows mobile is ok? If androids fail to start you need to change in the
default.txt root=/dev/mmcblk0p5

nathrin...@gmail.com : THANK YOU SOOO much... your clues were right on and
Market is working SUPER fast again. However, I did not need to reinstall... I
did so many reinstalls in the past and non worked for me but when you said its
related to Google Talk, I started to dig deeper... surely enough Talk was not
working properly due to issues with install I guess when Android starts for the
first time ever after a fresh install.

To resolve these issues I had to go into /system/app/ and rerun few apk files.
To name a couple Talk.apk, gTalkService.apk, TalkProvider.apk and I think
GoogleApps.apk as well...

Again, thanks a million, greatly appreciate it... I have an awesome phone now :)

SDoola...@gmail.com : thank you for your response, I asked for your help when I
thought that Market was not working due to repartitioning issues i.e. non
default partition table... but it’s all GOOD now and there’s no urgent need
to repartition as factory default.
That being said, I still would like to go back to factory partitioning
defaults, one reason is that I can no longer install Android on /sdcard with
the binaries provided in this project since they assume to pick up the
ext2.tar.gz from My Storage partition mmcblk0p5 I guess!!! (something is
hardcoded) and My Storage is now mmcblk0p1 ... anyway... if you can help me
find I complete ROM with all parts (4 parts I guess) to flash and go back to
default... that would be awesome and appreciated... as long as you think that
would fix the different partitioning on my Omnia now.

You guys are COOL... I love my OMNIA again :)))))

i checked my storage partition last night, found the 2 partitions are both under
one extension partition, so it start from bkl0p5, i have seen before someone
said p1--p4 reserved for primary partition.if your partition begins with p1,
that maybe due to none extension type.
bty,anyone know what's the 512MB partition for? i find 'dictionarys‘ and a
big 'cubic' file inside, can we delete it? i never use it.
