What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Create and publish a dataset using ORDS
2. Think 'I'd like to make this dataset available using a Creative Commons/Open
Data Commons Licence'
3. Realize there's no easy way of doing this
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Researchers are often encouraged to release their research data under an open
licence. It would be useful if the ORDS provided them with an easy way of doing
this.
The most straightforward way of implementing this would be to give them a
drop-down list to choose from when they publish a dataset, although we'd
probably also need to provide links to further info about the options.
NB. Whatever is done about this should also take into account the ongoing
discussions about ownership of research data and the right of individual
researchers to release their data under an open licence - e.g. if it turns out
departmental sign-off is needed, we may need to alert users to this.
