Some UK Access Federation links are pointing to old sites (e.g. JISC) #599

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Ask someone to register for the ORDS using the UK Access Management
Federation route.
2. Get informed by them that ORDS is linking to out of date registration pages
3. Have to spend ages getting them a virtual card instead

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I've been told that the JISC link points to an old log-in page that no longer
works. I also strongly suspect that the Leicester link is out of date, given
that it goes to an OpenAthens page.

Please use labels and text to provide additional information.
I'm not sure whether this is something the ORDS team can change, but I'm
guessing that it is a SysDev issue and it would be handy if they could review
the links.

Actually, this should be critical, as JISC staff want access.

[steps to reproduce the problem] That's what I did to discover it wasn't
working - in this case asking Daniela Duca at JISC to register. I asked her to
register with the ORDS before inviting her to join a project in order to avoid
the route of inviting an unregistered user to join a project from within the
system, as at the time that didn't work (issue #591). In either case, this is
merely how I found out about the problem - it doesn't have a bearing on the
solution.

The problem is that the links to the UK Access Management federation log-in
pages for particular institutions are out of date in some instances, include
the one to JISC. All we need to do is to ensure that when somebody picks their
institution from the UK Access Management Federation list in order to log-in,
they are directed to the current institutional log-in page rather than an
out-of-date one. For JISC, the current log-in page is https://idp.jisc.ac.uk/,
and not https://dlib-jiscidp.edina.ac.uk/idp/Authn/UserPassword. The Leicester
link also appears to send users to an out-of-date institutional log-in page.
But I'm not sure whether we can change these links ourselves, or if we need to
get somebody else to do it.

Does that make it a bit clearer? I'll add this to the issue.

James

Given that the links you're talking about are on
https://wayf.ukfederation.org.uk and not on an ox.ac.uk domain, I'm guessing
Jisc need to contact UKAF and have the URLs updated.

Have written to UKAF about this and it's not something we have any control over
via ORDS.
