It looks as though you can sort tables by heading in the main editing interface, but you can't

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Go to the editing screen and click on a field name
2. The up or down arrow appears next to the field name as though you've sorted 
it
3. But you haven't

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Ideally users *should* be able to click on a field name in the editing 
interface and the data should be sorted by that field. If we can implement 
that, that would be great. If that will take more than a week, could we just 
ensure that the field names aren't clickable, so that we don't get anyone's 
hopes up?
