Hello there,

at first - thanks for the Photivo-Software - I like it very much.
But I would like to see the information of the color under the mouse-cursor. In
some cases this would help
a) to see, if the white-balance matches
b) to get a feeling about burned out colors
maybe sth. like pressing the "Alt"-key together with moving the cursor over the
image adds/shows an information window with the color under the cursor ... best
would be switchable RAW / converted color ...

Best regards
Höri

and me again ... sorry - I missed to set the entry as "new feature wish", it is
- of course - not a defect. If it is possible too change this - please do so.
Thank you

Hi,

well, you are not the first one with this kind of wish. The problem is, which
color values to display? I didn't find a good solution yet. The obvious would
be to show the 8bit RGB values which are displayed, but this would only be a
small part of the truth since there is always the color profile of the display
or the output in between.

From my point of view, reasonable information is at the end of the linear 16bit
pipe. However, these values will most likely be unintuitive to users since the
color profiles usually have some gamma (so different brightness) and those
values would be 16bit. So, I still doubt the user acceptance of those values.
And last of course, someone has to code it ;-)

Hi Mike,

thanks for your answer.
You're right - it is not so easy to find out what the user wants to see...
I only can speak for myself - I would like to see the RGB value of the current
preview. After some time my brain looses the sense for wrong colors. But if I
see know sth white, I often use the color information to find out if the white
I see is really white (so to say a brain white balancing tool ;) )
On the other hand I sometimes use the information of the color to see wether
the extreme dark areas have some more potential - so in this case the 16-bit
value would be of more interest.
That is what I ment switchable ;)
And yes - you're right ... someone has to code it - it is just a wish of mine
... and maybe someone else finds it interesting who knows how to code it ;)

CU and thanks for your answer
