Crash when loading image jpg and/or nef

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Start photivo
2. load image
3. crash warning dialog

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Linux Mint 11 (Natty ) + Photivo version 2012-01-15(rev5b1e13a80581)+

Worked well until I stopped a unresponsive photivo window, after that imminent 
crashes.
When removed ini persobal file prog starts but crashes when loading image

Would ypu believe this:
My camera saves images with JPG extension.
After renaming them to jpg, at least the programm starts.
