Display resolution changing #28

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

What feature is required
Support for other display resolutions, there are many people without fullHD
monitor, I personally have old 1280x1024@60 (16:10) monitor with DVI port (HDMI
compatible) which I would like to use with MK808 as a desktop.

Describe what component of PicUntu needs to be changed
Some configuration file? It would be needed to find a working way how to set
different resolutions succesfully.

What is the desired output
Way to set different resolutions, it would be good if it wouldnt include using
another compatible monitor firstly to change to desired resolution.

Where do we find resources on the net, to include this feature
Unfortunately I have no idea.

Are there any references, links on the site that have discussions for this.

I just want to add, that I would like my* and all different monitor resolutions
over hdmi to be supported, no just the ones hardcoded in HDMI driver, about
which I read here:
http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/41654-pre-alpha-03-ubuntu-linux-for-mk802-iii-ug

my monitor resolution and also many other monitor resolutions aren't sadly there

I dont know if that is possible, because it would probably need to change that
hdmi driver, but if you do this, you will fulfill my dream to use MK808 as
cheap linux desktop. I also want to thank you for accepting to work on this.

*mentioned above

I just have a hd ready tv and I don't have time to cross-compile a new kernel.
Could you put different kernel version with other screen resolution( 1398x720p
in my case) like some people does for android?
