drag splitter enhancement

This is an enhancement request -

I need a splitter panel that allows the right panel to be dragged over the 
left panel.  Instead of having to grab the little splitter bar, I just 
want to grab anywhere on the right panel (someplace where there isn't 
another widget that responds to mouse clicks) and just drag it back and 
forth, to cover and uncover the left panel.  it's like a sliding closet 
door.

The problem with that is widgets within the splitter panel themselves can 
consume the
mouse events teh very same events that the splitter needs. 

If the widget inside a splitter consumes all mouse events, teh splitter handle 
wont
see the event. I think thats why most of splitters even on windows require the 
user
to drag the handle and not the area within one of the splitter content.

Im not sure if this is a good idea.
