No transparency with pygame 1.7.1 #3

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install pygame 1.7.1 under Ubuntu 8.04
2. launch test
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Windows should have transparency; instead there is not, and font is very small

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
pygame 1.7.1 under Ubuntu 8.04

Please provide any additional information below.
Installing Pygame 1.8.0 from
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/13418132/python-pygame_1.8.0release_i386.deb
solved the problem
