get actual count is very long

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. select platform (eg tethys) and parameter (eg chlorophyll)
2. zoom in to a couple days
3. click "get actual count"

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
This should be pretty quick - instead it takes so long that I end up giving up. 
Interestingly there is a way around it - if you click on "get actual count" 
BEFORE zooming, then zoom without waiting (ie. invert 2 and 3), it is very fast.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
kraken on chrome & linux

Looks like a bug in the JavaScript where count is the only thing in the 
response but other things are expected.
