500 error for someone trying to log into /admin w/o staff status

I'm not able to reproduce. 

Created user without staff. Gave user "faculty" group.

User gets login screen at /admin. Please set to Accepted if you can provide 
steps to reproduce.

I was wrong about the source of the error. It's a LDAP issue.

* Create a new user in AD: admin.cristoreyny.org/CRNYHS/Staff
* Give the new user a valid first name, last name, and e-mail address to avoid 
different 500 errors
* Try to log in to SWORD as the new user. It doesn't matter if you use / or 
/admin
* Observe 500 error.

I think this only happens on first login.
