writing the paper!

Hi writing committee,

a reminder: our paper is due by the end of next week.  We should have a 
reasonable draft finished by Wed next week to give the rest of the class time 
to read & comment on it.  So far we have section titles, which means we've got 
a lot of work left to do in one week!  

We had said we would split up the writing by what other committee we were on.  
The lit committee members (Mike, Mel, & Bryan) will write the intro, the data 
committee members (Libby & Jason) the data collection methods, the analysis 
committee members (me) the analysis methods & results.  We'll all contribute to 
the discussion section.  We'll do this using google docs, so we can all work at 
once without issues involving multiple drafts.  You should all have access and 
editing privileges on the doc, as long as you're signed in to your google/gmail

If you're at a loss, a good way to start your section may be to summarize the 
presentation, and then flesh the paper out from there.  That's how I plan to do 
the results, anyway.

Feel free to edit what others have written (especially for clarity & 
consistency), but please make sure that any edits you have (1) are correct and 
(2) do not delete major work without consulting the original writer and/or 
saving a draft in case we want to restore said text at a later date.  

Do you all feel we need to meet in the next couple days to discuss things/get 
started working, or should we all just get to work on the doc?

My vote is: lets get to work on it, and meet either at the end of this week or 
first thing next week.

Can someone post code for figures/analysis that's been done so far?  I can 
start making things pretty, and having a complete set of figures should help 
the writing.

Bryan and I are pooped. we've been writing for a while, and will polish things 
up tomorrow afternoon with mel. Please, don't freak out if we've not quite 
'finished' things, they will be taken care of.
