[ZScreen] Problems with Soluto #439

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
I noticed that a major release of Soluto was out and was very interested in
trying it again. I installed it, did the re-boot, set the services and programs
to delay/pause on boot and re-booted again.

In the attached files, you will see the file prompt that popped up as well as
the services/programs I had removed from boot. This never happened before I
installed Soluto (unless I had never done a re-boot as of yet).

ZScreen loses all of its past user settings and reverts back to a vanilla
install. (This entails whatever main settings the user had, all history, won't
close itself into tray when 'X' is clicked, etc.)

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
ZScreen 3.36.17.1 on Windows 7 64-bit.

Please provide any additional information below.

Sorry if this comes across to you being ignorant or rude, but why do you think
your involvement with Soluto has got anything to do with ZScreen?

The file system handlign in ZScreen is bug free. This has something to do with
Soluto affecting ZScreen files.

I think ZScreen sometimes can't save settings before close. So it opening file
to save but before write data to it process is closing so your xmlsettings file
is 0kb and empty so it giving this error. This problem is nothing to do with
Soluto. It happened because something happened wrong to ZScreen when you
shutdown pc and ZScreen can't save settings properly. Not easy to reproduce
this error. I did some changes for this to not happen in new version hopefully
it will fix this problem. Thanks for report.

Mcored: It doesn't at all! I wasn't sure what problem the end was on.

At any rate, I'll be doing a system restore to get rid of Soluto and whatever
changes it made and just handle the boot process manually ;)

flexy: It's great to hear it can be fixed! No problem.

Hi justin, we have made improvements to ZScreen settings save procedures and I
can tell you good news.

I have installed Solute (yes you influenced me!) and it asked for a reboot. I
had ZScreen already running. Soluto rebooted the computer and everything loaded
as usual.

Next Dev build will have these changes incorporated.

Thanks for the feedback.
