Nothing uploads at all on 4.1.0 #486

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Attempt to upload an image (amongst other things?) using various methods
(Clipboard upload, Crop Shot upload)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Clipboard upload:
2011-07-20 06:48:50.629 - Setting Image 841x508 to WorkerTask
2011-07-20 06:48:50.663 - Job started: UploadFromClipboard
2011-07-20 06:48:50.682 - Job completed: UploadFromClipboard

Crop Shot:
2011-07-20 06:48:54.556 - Job started: CaptureRectRegion
2011-07-20 06:49:06.765 - Setting Image 842x509 to WorkerTask
2011-07-20 06:49:06.766 - Job completed: CaptureRectRegion

The Tray Icon flashes Orange for those milliseconds, but nothing ends up
happening.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
2011-07-20 06:45:45.018 - ZScreen 4.1.0 rev 2328 started
2011-07-20 06:45:45.018 - Operating system: Microsoft Windows NT 6.1.7601
Service Pack 1 (Win7)

Please provide any additional information below.
Happens across multiple freshly formatted Win7 Computers with the default (and
specialized) ZScreen settings.

Maybe you not set your Output destination to upload?

Mmmmhmmm, Thanks Flexy!

I'd suggest that should be the default though based on the assumption of how
most people end up using ZScreen. ZScreen has always worked to upload to a
remote host right out of the box with no configuration required at the basic
level.

Fox: one problem that we had in the past with having a default upload to say
imageshack/tinypic was that images were being uploaded to the web without first
asking the user.

@rgrt: Well, should it really be default behavior to disable upload if you
already had it perfectly configured to upload? Further, shouldn't it maybe
*tell* you that you have to do that? Here I thought that was what zscreen was
*for*. I could understand not having a destination set as default, but having
to turn upload on seems redundant. Until I saw this, I thought the last version
of zscreen that I was using was broken.

Maybe I'm retarded, but, I'm on the new version (4.1.0.2347), and I still can't
figure out how to upload. If I have "File" in the Outputs section, I get an
error: "FTP upload failed. The process cannot access the file '<my file
directory>' because it is being used by another process."

I've tried changing that directory, same thing- even if I turn off my
antivirus. Nothing else would be touching it. For a change, with this new
version, it's at least actually writing these files. Though "Active Window"
shots don't seem to work. If I take "File" out of the Outputs section, it just
doesn't do anything. It'll let me highlight with cropshot or whatever else, but
it won't actually perform any upload.

I apologize in advance if I come off a bit cross, but, I've been trying tons of
different configuration combinations- I have no idea why it's doing this.

Update on this. I've got it pretending to capture the active window now,
however, the screenshot it attempts to upload is named as
%t_%y-%mo-%d_%h-%mi-%s , whereas the file it actually creates is named as
Screenshot_%y-%mo-%d_%h-%mi-%s . Then it says the file does not exist. However,
with crop shots and such, the files it creates are correctly named, so, I don't
know why it thinks they are locked.

I'm also noticing that it's raising the increment setting by 1 each time, but
the file it's saving is always _0001, now that I've changed it to increment, as
per my former settings.

First of all, bear in mind that you are using a Dev version here. When you run
ZScreen for the very first time, it *does* ask you to select your upload
destinations in a Configuration Window. If you have chosen to just press OK
then that's what you get in ZScreen with default setting of copying the
screenshot to Clipboard.

Using rev 2347 build, please have "File" and "Upload" as Outputs you should be
able to upload to FTP:

Yeah, Zscreen decided it wanted to use the beta channel for updates. I was
unaware of this until after I'd already accepted an update prompt for a beta
version. When that didn't work, and searching proved futile in fixing it, I
obtained the latest installer from here.

I'm aware of this screen. I completed it, and filled in all of my options. The
behavior I want, is for it to capture a screenshot, save it locally in a
directory mirroring my server's FTP directory, upload it to FTP, and then put
the URI for that in my clipboard. To me, that sounds like File, Upload, and
Clipboard, which is why I set it to that.

I've changed the settings to that of your picture, except I have left my URL
shortener as j.mp. Now, it will allow me to crop a shot just as before, and
then not upload or do anything.

Thanks for your help thus far, though.
