Additional question: what is the difference between the codec with/without the .secure suffix? I know it is drm-related, but drm content seems to be able to stream with both. Is there a difference in performance?
The secure codec likely uses a secure output path. Whether DRM content will play using a codec that does not use a secure output path will depend on the way in which the license policy is configured (specifically, whether a secure output path is indicated as a requirement in the policy).
This sounds like a device specific issue. If you have a relationship with the device manufacturer, please content them directly.

Ok thanks, I'll notify the manufacturer.

[REQUIRED] Question
Play-out of a Widevine drm-protected dash live stream on an Askey AndroidTV box freezes after a few seconds, audio continues. Disabling the OMX.amlogic.avc.decoder.awesome.secure codec with a custom MediaCodecSelector works for this stream, but causes issue on other streams: hick-ups every few seconds. Using ExoPlayer v2.10.4.
