Do you see an alternative? Everything I try is bugged as hell. This one is less (cough) bugged but almost dead..

I would look at this as an opportunity to contribute. I've been waiting for a year on a few pull requests I'd love to see merged.

If the maintainers are finding they don't have enough time for the project, I volunteer to help review pull requests and do testing.

The project seems like it's dead. There are few other active projects relating with the same feature set; this is the one that I'm probably going to start using/contributing to: https://github.com/WonderKiln/CameraKit-Android

Haven't fully dived into it yet but seems like it's API is decent (and probably more mature)

Although this title is a bit harsh.
