Unable to install Windows CPC 1.16 Server 2016 #436

Open ghost opened 5 years ago

While attempting to install CPC 1.16 on Windows Server 2016 the service fails to start after verification of the device with the appropriate Google Account and pressing enter when prompted for an auto-assigning e-mail address as one is not needed.

As a side note upon rollback of the installer the Cloud Print Connector service is not cleaned up properly and is left on the system.

  1. Set the stuck Cloud Print Connector service to disabled and restart the server
  2. Manually remove the entry by opening regedit and navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services
  3. Find the Cloud Print Connector Key and delete it
  4. Restart the system to refresh the services list correctly

I'm also having this problem. I'm not sure if a Windows Update patch caused this problem, or if something changed with Google's API, but the service seems to hang every time the system attempts to start. I was able to manually run the the command, but my printers were still not appearing on my Chrome devices. I've contacted Google about this to see if I get anything from them, but they haven't been able to shed any light on it, either. I'm hoping that the developer is aware of what the problem might be, and hopefully working on a fix. This service seems to be the only thing that is working for our organization, but something has caused it to malfunction.
