The connector forum/mailing list is gone now too, so I guess someone is working to dismantle things in the background.
Thanks to those who worked on this project. It's a shame to see it go to waste, especially when there are still schools (etc) happily using it.
Will this kill the LOCAL print function? We have had success using the local option over the cloud option anyway.
From my understanding, no, that will still work. But will the code be maintained if it changes?
The mechanism for local printing is in the Bonjour/Avahi/Privet source code.
The connector would still work for local printing since it doesn't use Google servers at all. However it's likely Chrome browser will stop supporting Cloudprint local printers after deprecation so this would not work.
Generally and printer that works with local Cloudprint printers should work with Chrome OS native printing. Use that:
