Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

Clarified with SoftBank. SB did not have the original record but they believe
it is based on fleur-de-
lis.

This looks like an anchor from a Naval officer's uniform crest or service
emblem worn around the neck.
These would have been a common sight in bars in Japan after World War II.

A fleur de lys has a different structure: the two side parts curve downwards,
rather than the upwards curve seen in
EMBLEM.

Karl Pentzlin writes: e-4D2 is TRIDENT

Markus replies: Hm. Its Japanese name is actually "Emblem", and it has a
specific
meaning more like a "Wappen", but I like that an image search for "trident"
comes up
with close matches to the glyph.

Should we rename it?

Image search for "trident" limited to small images of clip art:

Fixed in r123.

EMBLEM --> TRIDENT EMBLEM

Also removed the temporary note as this info is no longer necessary.
