Discussed with Dave and Tobias today. Moving to Q3 2023

@davelab6 any idea of the development timing here? Tentatively keeping it in Q1 but there has been no movement in this thread since early last year.

Hey Chris,I’ve shared a report here.

Hey Chris,I’ve shared a report here.

Sorry for the mix up here @dberlow - @chrissimpkins isn't asking about the current Amstelvar avar2 work (in https://github.com/googlefonts/amstelvar-avar2 in parallel with https://github.com/googlefonts/roboto-flex-avar2) but about the v1.0 release which happened 2 years ago in https://github.com/googlefonts/amstelvar/tree/main/fonts

And the onboarding of Amstelvar is blocked on Evan confirming he's ready to push a second parametric axis family, and that's blocked on (a) pushing the non parametric Roboto VF that's in hand and perhaps (b) registering the missing parametric axis from Roboto Flex and repushing it with that axis included, which probably requires an axis registry v2 implementation or another way to better handle fonts with dozens of aces and an opsz axis.

My guess is this isn't going to happen in 2024 lol but we should discuss with the relevant stakeholders internally; is also possible we could ship a user axes only version of Amstelvar to obtain some product value sooner than later

I misunderstood the Amstelvar in question, my apologies. My understanding of this blocked Amstelvar, leads me to agree with davelab6, that a product made today should not include parametric axes.
