@twardoch hasn't touched this repo since August 2020, and I'm waiting for him to request us to push a tagged release. He's been busy recently for us on the fonts.google.com/noto release :) Adam, what's the outlook for this project?
@m4rc1e anything useful to note from your work on the v2 release in #6?
friendly ping to @twardoch for updating us about the state of project :)
I should deliver by mid of June.
@twardoch is there any update on the expected completion of this? Furthermore, which font weights would be available in Google Fonts once this update is made?
Gosh, it's been three whole months since the ETA! Anyway, my thought is that Lato v3 is still in dev, might be safer to start off with Lato 2.x (latest is 2.015) and we'll add Lato 3.x after it's ready for release.
Oh, might be a good idea to ping @twardoch in.
@twardoch please update us on a possible delivery date for the upgrade. I can move the issue to a milestone next year if you want.
Dear @twardoch - as a representative of one of polish digital humanities projects in open access on web,I am also very curious about the Lato upgrade, as our project is connected to the topic of translations and multilingual data :)
@twardoch Sir, can you, at a minimum, start off by updating to v2.x as @applecuckoo suggests?
I work for IBM and a high-profile client wants to make use of 'medium' and 'heavy' variations of this font which are not available here on google. I am aware that Adobe has v2 already, however google fonts is significantly more performant and reliable than Adobe.
I would really appreciate if you could consider fulfilling this request as soon as possible.
Thank you for your time!
Sincerely
Adam believes that the development work will be complete by the end of January. Adding this to our Q1 2024 onboarding milestone.

I ask here, won't open new issue. Why does Lato on GF don't support Cyrillic languages? v2.015 supports them.
@Twilightssuperb because current Lato on GF isn't v2. We are waiting for the font authors to complete the development work on the v3 version and make an upgrade from v1.
@twardoch whats the latest
Moving to backlog
@davelab6 How do you want to handle this? Suggest we backlog it until Adam can respond here.
Please consider adding Lato version 3 (almost finished): https://github.com/latofonts/lato-source
