Open emmamarichal opened 1 year ago
Hi @fonthausen, I created this issue to follow all the Summer of Type's projects. I you can complete/precise/correct this list, it would be great, so I can onboard the right versions.
Thanks!

Hi @emmamarichal Thank you for making the issue/list ! I will have a look and add the needed information. The work on those is plannend for Q1 of 2023.
Hi @Fonthausen! Do you have any news/updates concerning this list? So I can start to review :)
Hi @emmamarichal ! Just finished a large project that took me more time as expected (Radio Canada UCAS).
I just started to have a look at Bevan, the first up the list. First impression is that it looks good. But I will dig deeper to be sure.
Hi @Fonthausen! Thank you :) Yes, I've updated Bevan last year so it should be ok! Rosalie sent me your email concerning Rokkitt, I'll take a look today.
Maybe you can have a look to those? -Metrophobic -Paytone
Thanks!
@emmamarichal Good to know you updated Bevan. I will have a look at Metrophobic first and then Paytone.
@emmamarichal
I updated Metrophobic
The update contains: – Revised and corrected outlines – Added original rounded dots and comma accent – Expanded to GF Plus encoding – Repositioned anchors, including _topviet – Rebuild and revised Vietnamese diacritics – Removed overlaps and component/outline combinations – Revised spacing – Cleaned up and revised kerning – Checked and corrected kerning classes – Checked features
@emmamarichal
I just updated Paytone. – Checked outlines – Removed overlap and outline/component combinations – Removed Postscript hints – Corrected (Vietnamese) combining accents – Checked anchors – Expanded to GF Plus encoding – Checked and corrected kerning – Resized the numerals and currency signs in vertical height. They were just a few units smaller than uppercase.
@Fonthausen Thanks a lot, I'll take a look before the weekend :)
Hi @Fonthausen! What about the Sigmare One (https://github.com/google/fonts/issues/4007)? Is the update ready, and if so, where can I find it?
@emmamarichal I am now working on FrancoisOne. You want me to finish SigmarOne first ?
@Fonthausen Ah great! No problem, I just wanted to know the status, no rush :)
@emmamarichal I wanted to be finished earlier, but it is a bigger mess as expected. I need to redo the kerning...
@Fonthausen Oh yes I see, I noticed some spacing issues (or maybe it was kerning) when I opened it few months ago. Maybe there is a way to import the kerning from an old version?
@emmamarichal FrancoisOne has been updated. Here is the link to my Git: https://github.com/Fonthausen/francoisoneFont
@emmamarichal I updated SigmarOne. This one is a big change for the public, since it now has real lowercase and smallcaps. Up until now it had only smallcaps.
Moving to the Q2 milestone
@emmamarichal I moved this into Q2. Possible to see what the status is of the blockers that you last identified across these projects? Ty!
@chrissimpkins 2 projects left:
- Viv wrote a good summary here: Update François One #6387 (comment)
Freeman is live now. The distributed version of François One needs to be updated now with different small fixes. But @davelab6 can say better about that goal.
@chrissimpkins We can move it to Q3. I need Dave's opinion about François and Cantarell
