Super short description of the Font Family:

Samaano is a simple variable font created fully using Open Source Tools like Fontforge, Fontra and some script.

The Name Samaano comes fron the Hindi word Samaan (समान) , meaning equal indicating the widths are equal in this font. Indic fonts are usually not made monospaced. This is an attempt so that whe coding is done in Hindi or Marathi this font can be useful.

Following are the specialities of the font

Fully created using Open Source Software - mainly Fontra and Fontforge.

Monospaced Font

Two Variable axes of Weight and Width

Simple Glyph construction using Rectangular or quadrilateral components only

Version 2 of Samaano variable multi-lingual font is now available. Changelog includes

• Three variable axes of slant, width, and weight.
• Extended characterset covering Latin, Latin extended including Indic translitteration, Vietnamese and Devanagari.
• Version 2 of Devanagari Opentype
• added local, superscripts, ordinal features
