Bug: Sankey/Calendar (under IE) "Unable to get property 'replaceChild' of undefined or null reference. #1531

What steps will reproduce the problem? Please provide a link to a
demonstration page if at all possible, or attach code.

Error can be reproduced on the following base charts:
1. Base Graphic example in Sankey Diagram using IE. https://developers.google.com/chart/interactive/docs/gallery/sankey?hl=ja
2. Calendar:
https://developers.google.com/chart/interactive/docs/gallery/calendar

What component is this issue related to (PieChart, LineChart, DataTable,
Query, etc)?
Sankey Graph
Calendar Graph

Are you using the test environment (version 1.1)?
No. (If you are not sure, answer NO)

What operating system and browser are you using?
Using Windows 7 64-bit with the default graph for Sankey in IE 11.0.4.  Other base
graphical visualizations examples do not appear to raise this issue.

This problem only happens on IE. Other browsers seem to be working just fine.

More than 0 people use IE.

Actually IE is the third most used browser according to http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp

I would like to confirm that setting enableInteractivity: false does NOT fix the issue.

Sankey was released in Jan 2014, this bug was raised on March 19.   New release was
put out at 25 March.  This bug has still not been accepted.

The issue does not exist in d3js charts which Sankey uses according to the documentation.

Is this issue likely to be resolved?  I ask because the chart is very helpful but who
can use it while the graph and IE remain non-compliant.
