I am working on google beacon platform for months. Recently some of our campaign start getting more impressions as compare to others campaigns. As as result of this we got more clicks on notification as compare to other campaigns. Everything was good then we thought to change strategies around those beacon campaigns to try out new strategies. But we lost lot of impressions on that change, now its less then one forth of previous. screenshot from 2017-11-28 14-05-14 Drop in notification impressions

So I thought to re launch previous campaign but things were not the way I was thinking. I lost impression on that campaign too. screenshot from 2017-11-28 14-06-41 Drop in Page views or Clicks on Notifications

Note: All this took me to one conclusion that google nearby works as search engine for beacon platform. I have good knowledge of search engine optimisation but don't know much about beacon platform ranking or nearby. Questions:

  1. Can someone tell what are the factors responsible for this?
  2. What are the factors which effects ranking on beacon platform?
  3. How to rank on google nearby?
  4. Is permalink have impact of campaigns? Currently our platform generates system generated links?

Hey, There are no strict guidelines unfortunately so everyone is marking assumptions. Here's my two cents' worth:

  1. There is no way to tell without seeing the actual pages. Usual suspects are: if your page content (or final URL) is the same on several beacons, if it is not relevant at a particular location (gets swiped away too many times) or poorly performing final URLs
  2. There is no official ranking. This is the only validation you can do: https://beaufortfrancois.github.io/sandbox/physical-web/url-validator/
  3. Can you give a technical example? I'd like to better understand this because I totally see this being a possible issue. We at Beeem always use a fixed beacon forwarder and our customers use a relatively stable set of pages they broadcast that is always individual.
