Revert "Use withId() to wait for kotlin-android plugin" #618

This reverts commit 1be99311fc0e17900e9f11888f9d56bfb1c352b7. There's some concern that there may be some funny behavior now. Revert to avoid destabilizing the release and give us more time to confirm the behavior.
