I'm looking into Polymer - seems to allow nice separation between view and API? Though I'm not much of a frontend coder (yet).

Since opening this one I've hacked enough CSS and GopherJS into the dev version to be worthy of "probably less ugly" and possibly even "almost usable", which I'll call an improvement. It's a lofty goal but not precisely specified, so it's time to close this issue.
