Sorry for missing this a long time ago! We have no program of this sort at the moment, but keeping this in the backlog.
Thanks, still looking forward to it! Currently, we're using free colab versions for the Trustworthy Machine Learning course. Students frequently run into OOM issues and students are suffering quite a bit ;) FYI: https://scalabletrustworthyai.github.io/courses/tml_winter_2324/
So... this is my annual lecture and we'd really love to have this credit this time :) :) https://scalabletrustworthyai.github.io/courses/tml_winter_2425/
@cperry-goog Thanks for looking into this again :)
I can grant you compute units as part of a program for educators but not for the students sadly. Students can get access if your organization purchases Colab Pro for Workspace: https://medium.com/google-colab/colab-pro-and-pro-now-available-via-workspace-9b69ffb835d6
If you submit in product feedback and mention me I can grant you compute units to that account.
I'm giving a lecture on a machine learning course in the coming semester. I've been looking into options that award educational credits for university courses. Google Educational Credits seems to be a good option that grants 50 USD credit for each student registered for a course.
For an ML course, however, we do not need to full functionality of Google Cloud but just Google Colab Pro. Google Colab gets rid of lots of complications around helping students set up their Python environments etc. at the beginning of the course. It would be very useful when there's an option to simply let students have access to Google Colab Pro for 5 months (roughly one semester). Price-wise they are roughly equivalent (50 USD GCP / semester vs 9.99 USD / month * 5 months / semester).
Will it be possible to add this feature to Google Colab? Thank you very much!
PS This is related to #2367 which requests cheaper Google Colab Pro for students.
