Is there an italic variant of this font? Is one coming? This blog post at design.google says "Lexend Italic will be available Spring 2022 from Octavio Pardo." FYI @octaviopardo

Hi Michael, thanks for writing. Yes, it is coming. I am about to finish it in the next days, then it will be up to the google font team to finish and do the last bits of engineering to publish it. The delay is due to additional tasks added to the original commission, including an extensive review of the existing upright to polish certain letters, improove kerning pairs, and add additional variable axis. Almost there!
