The uppercase and lowercase currently have different forms with the uppercase as alternates and the lowercase as the default designs. Should these be the same design (glyphs with double encodings) and have the alternates be accessed via opentype?

Since the Fonts API currently strips discretionary OT features, I think this is worth retaining
With regard to the API, if accessing alternates via ligatures, to my knowledge the OT feature could be set up in the standard ligature feature rather than the discretionary one. Would this prevent it from getting stripped out?
