Consider increasing the width of rhotacized ə˞. Here’s the string kənˈsɪdə˞d from IPA tests rendered in Roboto-Regular and Roboto-Italic:

What version of Roboto are you using to test this? The latest release should be fine (and thus the Android tag is inappropriate).

The version that Google publishes on GitHub. If that repo isn’t kept current, perhaps it would be best to delete it? But where to find the actual source?

Those aren't published fonts, they're the sources we have to use for the actual published hinted fonts (which are at https://github.com/google/roboto/releases) since afaik there's no way to store hinting data in a UFO.

I think there's been confusion about this before, so maybe I'll rename that "hinted" directory.
