I have been following the Development on external Surfaces (aka VideoSurface ) closely since I tested it on android 7 last year. Back then, the latency of live video when displayed on the VideoSurface was too high for our needs, so I was still using my proprietary SuperSync rendering method.
However I now have tested it on Android 8 ( and newest gvr-android-sdk) again and the latency of live video is much lower. I cannot find anything about that in the release notes, so my question is:
Is there a difference in latency of live video displayed via 'external surfaces' between the different Android ( 7, 8, 9 ) versions or not ? Unfortunately I can't test it myself since I don't have the HW.
