Minimal install to bare metal from HDD seemed to work. With the following notes:

Boot media was PXE boot with images from DVD images.

NIC was not supported by installer.

• Since the NIC wasn't recognized there was no option to configure the network. This caused misc. error messages to appear during boot for some init scripts. NIC was supported after the installation using the tg3 module.

lvm2-monitor and udev-post both have a crap status!

• /etc/init.d/udev-post status ALWAYS returns exit status 3. status) exit 3 ;;
• Yeah, crap!
• /etc/init.d/lvm2-monitor ALWAYS retuns exit status 1. rtrn=1 .... SNIP... status )

  TODO anyone with an idea how to dump monitored volumes?

Okay, udev-post might not be total crap, since it is a one time run. However lvm2-monitor should return some form of status.
