Fix for typo and unicode error #11

Small PR to fix 2 minor issues.

Regarding the unicode issue, it might be related to python3 only. I did not investigate in depth.

Thanks for sending this in! Looks good to me. I'm also not sure what's causing the odd unicode issue, but this seems to work for now. We can revisit it later if needed 😄
