When mobile phone privacy is switched from private to public or public to private, the page must be reloaded or closed and reopened immediately in order for the switch in My Profile and whether the public profile shows the mobile number are the same.
If the user switches the mobile phone privacy from private to public, and then goes to another page (Home, Involvements) without reloading or closing and reopening the page, the mobile number will show on their public profile, but will be shown as being private on their My Profile.
If the user switches the mobile phone privacy from public to private, and then goes to another page (Home, Involvements) without reloading or closing and reopening the page, the mobile number will not show on their public profile, but will be shown as being public on their My Profile.
There was another case during testing where My Profile said my mobile number was private, and it took a combination of reloading, closing and reopening, and switching the privacy switch to get my mobile number to not show up on my public profile. I'm not sure how I actually got it to be private again.
