Only the scroll of the root HTML frame is reset, so if we have a div wrapping everything and keeping the root frame from scrolling, then the bug is avoided.

Side effects: a permanent scroll bar appears even if the matrix doesn't exceed 600px in height

I hope that is acceptable for now until the bug in Firefox is fixed.

Hi There! It conflict with uBlock Origin? Use relax uMatrix mode "block-all/allow-exceptionally mode", as owner! Dont be evil

Bugfix was merged in mozilla-central.
